Hey everyone. I just wanted to say a big thank you. I posted a couple of weeks ago about buying a Fleurcup with a Visa gift card. I am sorry to say that I didn't end up trying it out; I asked a friend to buy it for me and I just paid her with cash. But I now have a beautiful green Fleurcup, which I am still learning about, but really like. lol.
The first time I tried using it was on the toilet, which didn't work so well. I tried it laying down on my bed, which worked great, but honestly, I am not going to be doing that while on my period, especially since I'll be at summer camp! But I got pretty comfortable with it on my bed, and then started on the toilet. The first couple times were awful. I could get it in, but there was excruciating pain when I tried getting it out. Honestly, the thing that helped the most with the pain was I accidentally tore my hymen. Being a virgin, I am very small, but it helped. It hurt at the time, but hasn't hurt since (and these are all dry runs since camp starts Monday, and I'm not due for another week or two). I am feeling really good about it now, and am excited to actually start my period so I can really try it out. :D
The only thing I'm not sure about yet is if I should cut the stem or not. I end up really squeezing in order to get it down far enough to grab the stem in one hand, and fold the cup inside of myself so I can remove it. At the same time, it does poke me sometimes, and doesn't seem to wander too far, but I haven't worn it for more than an hour....
I guess I do have one question for y'all. Will yanking on the stem a lot like I have been doing damage the cup at all? I don't want to wear it out too quickly. lol. Anyways, thanks so much for all of the information and tips! I mainly lurk on here, but I have been reading all of the posts on here like crazy. ;) It helps a lot. -Sunshine

rock on!
I'm still at the will-I-try-this stage, and I was really impressed by your efforts! I hope cup use at camp is working out fine.

If insertion of cups is anything like insertion of tampons, it's gonna be WAY easier when you really have your period.

As far as taking it out goes, I'll be interested to hear (only if you'd like to follow up again) what you find to work best. I have used a diaphragm before, and I found that diaphragm + period = huge mess, better remove it in the shower! But I can be pretty clumsy, plus my flow's pretty heavy.
