extreme pain with Diva cup

Greetings community!  Thank you so much for everything you've taught me (as a lurker) about menstrual cups.  Being that I'm 31, I purchased a over 30/post-childbirth Diva cup a few months ago. (I wanted a big one because I have a heavy flow.) After a learning curve, I got used to it and really liked the ease it provided, not to mention the environmentalist cred!  However, three times something has gone horribly wrong.  I've searched around in here for answers, but haven't quite figured out what happened to me, so I joined in hopes you could help me out.  He're's what this morning was like:

I woke up with the sense that I needed to change my Diva.  When I reached up to get it out, it was so high I could barely reach it (it didn't help that I'd trimmed the stem in hoping that would minimize discomfort -- sounds like that works well for some of you, but it was a bad idea for me).  What was worse, it was clearly suctioned onto my cervix.  I knew it wasn't going anywhere without some discomfort, but after I removed it I had the most painful experience of my life.  I was literally writhing on the floor for almost an hour, breaking into cold sweats, and nearly vomiting.  I couldn't even walk well enough to draw a bath.  3 ibuprophen and some rest enabled me to move around eventually, and I switched to a pad for today.  However, I had to cancel everyting I was going to do outside the house today because it is still really uncomfortable to move around much, or even use the bathroom.  Normally I have a high pain tolerance, so I'm not sure what happened.  It is the third time -- the first wasn't quite as bad, and the second was almost as bad . . . with the added complication that I had to walk home from work in that kind of pain.

Anyway, I've had some uneventful periods with the Diva, and through this community I learned to insert it pretty low.  However, mine seems to be far too able to travel!  If that happens even one or two more times, I'm going to have to give it up, and I really don't want to do that.  Any suggestions for other cups or an idea of why this might be happening?  I'm pretty sure last night is my vibrator's fault, which I've decided to quit using with the Diva in.  But the other times?
