What are some tips to prevent mess during removal?

 My house is going under construction. My parents are spending most of their hard-earned money to fix our very old, old house. I don't want to ruin it by making a mess with my menstrual cup! I know menstrual cups is the way I'm going to deal with my periods from now on, but i read some messy stories. Someone on this community even said that a glob of blood splatted on to the ceiling during removal! Yikes! i don't want to do that to my parents' bathroom! We would have no more money to fix it... 

So do you have any tips/advice/suggestions for me to avoid or prevent mess during removal of the menstrual cup?
