Debating a new cup...?

 Hey guys! c:

I'm having some issues with my cup, and I'm thinking I should get a smaller one, but I'm really at a loss. I haven't actually used it during a cycle (only dry-runs) so I thought talking to people with more knowledge would be a huge help!
I'm 18 years old and a virgin, but have no real hymen issue to speak of, because I'm pretty sure the first time I tried inserting my DivaCup it wrecked that up pretty well. I can insert my DivaCup (kind of), but I cannot get it to open. I've tried all the fold that will actually insert, in all different directions, but it always stays folded up inside me. It also hurts, like I'm cramping. I've tried to find my cervix, but haven't been able to as of yet, despite being able to insert my entire finger. This leads me to believe my cervix is high, but considering my inability to insert the Diva completely (the stem sticks out, and part of the bottom) I'm not sure what to think.
I can't insert on a toilet for the life of me, and can get it in (as mentioned above) while squatting.

I want to get a smaller cup, like a Meluna or a Lunette, but... I'm not sure if I'm just doing something horribly wrong. ):
If I get a Meluna (since I'm leaning more towards it to begin with), I was thinking a medium, but I'm not even sure if that would be small enough? Maybe the width of the cup is an issue here?
I really don't want to spend another $30 and be just as unsuccessful.
I also don't really want to spend another period in pads, but I'm due in a few days, and wouldn't be able to get a new cup by then... /:

If you need more info, I'm willing to share, just ask! Sorry for the bother, guys. :c
