Problem with cup

I'm a first time user and recently bought a small Lunette cup. I love the idea of menstrual cups and finally made the leap to buying one. I'm having a bit of trouble though. I can insert it just fine but after I insert it I get a pain in my uterus, like cramps. The pain won't go away so I took it out. First I tried to pinch the bottom but that made the pain worse so I stick my finger up the side to remove it. Does anyone else gt like this? Can someone help me I dot want to have wasted my money.
