a reminder about using lube

This came up in a post earlier and I thought I'd throw it out there. Know your cup and lube materials! Using personal lubricant is a great way to ease insertion, but if you have a silicone cup you want to be careful what kind you use! In particular, don't use a silicone lube with a silicone cup, it will cause the surface to break down and get all nasty, and it may cause the cup to tear. The cup won't be recoverable, there's no way to fix the damage and cleaning won't help.

The best way to be sure is to find out what your cup is made of and what your lube is made of, and never mix two silicones. A popular brand of silicone lube in the US is Wet Platinum (actually the only one I can think of, though there are others). (You might also want to steer clear of a glycerine lube, while we're on the subject, since that can cause yeast infections. Water-based really is your best bet.)
