First Time Out

Hello! I recently got a Divacup (size 1, i'm 27, no kids), and used it for the first time this week, emptying it morning, noon, and night. I never did get it to stop leaking. But I think that my cervix could be low or something. Anyhow, I used the cup for 4 and a half days. On the 5th day, when I emptied it at lunchtime, it was sitting at an angle (sideways) and I had to do a lot more pushing than previous days to get the thing to come down to where I could reach it. So I didn't put it back in, since I didn't want trouble getting it out later. I probably won't use it for the rest of my cycle because my flow slows significantly after 4 days. At least until I have some more experience with the cup. I know that my cervix sits funny, since my doctor has to make some "adjustments" before she can get down to business during my annual exam.

Anyway, I am looking for some advice on the leaking issue. I'd estimate that about 1/3 of my flow leaked out. When I inserted the cup, it felt like it opened all the way and was comfortable. In fact, it seemed like my vagina sort of sucked it up into place. I didn't have much say in where it went. I know the trouble with the leaking must be my cervix, I just don't know what to do about it.

Also, i noticed that the cup started to get stinky after a couple days. I boiled it when I got it, then rinsed with hot water the rest of the time. The day that I noticed the stank, I decided to not wear it at night, and wrapped it in newspaper. That seemed to work. Does anyone else not wear theirs at night because of this? Does washing with something like DivaWash help?

I welcome any questions... not sure what other info would help!
