The transition to the cup

I was thinking the other day that I've run the gamut of menstrual products:

I went from pads > tampons > tampons without applicators > Insteads > bell cup

I think using tampons without applicators (o.b.) eased the transition to cups, for me at least. It allowed me to feel more comfortable with my body. Before o.b.s, I'd heard of cups, but I seem to remember thinking that they sounded gross. That was before I knew better, obviously. :)

Which makes me think of a friend of mine that I had mentioned cups to. She only uses applicator tampons, and her reaction was, and I quote, "Eeew, I'd have to put my fingers up there?!" I think this sort of mindset is what holds most women back from exploring the use of cups. What do y'all think?

What was your experience?
Did you start using the cups with your first cycle, or did you transition to cups from other products?
