Air wtf?

I only started using my Ladycup recently and have been having an issue all the while. As it gets filled with menstrual blood I occasionally feel tiny bits of air passing out of it through my vag. It makes me feel uncomfortable. Has anyone experienced that? Why would it even happen in the first place? 


If that has any bearing on the question, I usually have a heavy flow and I haven't used menstrual cups before.
