cleaning a used cup-curiosity question

so this is just a curiosity question. with my new cups, i boiled before first use and boil them between each period. i recently bought a used cup. i washed it with soap, wiped it off with alcohol and will boil it before use. for those of you that have purchased a used cup from someone, how did you clean it?
