Is it okay?

So earlier this month I thought I had a yeast infection I was itchy and had a lot of discharge that was white and gross looking but no smell really well the itchiness went away and it was close to the time I'd be ovulating and then the discharge went away. I'm about to start my period and since everything went away I'd like to put my cup in early to catch it just in case I start. Would it be ok to do that or should I wear a pad the first couple days just in case it was a yeast infection but it only lasted like 3 or 4 days.
