So. I guess my question is what should I do about it? I should be getting my period in the next few days, and from some of the posts here, it sounds like that may be enough to get rid of it without going back to the doctor or doing any at-home remedies. But is there anything I should be doing to help it along - like eat/insert yogurt or garlic?
More specifically, I'm wondering what I should do about my Diva Cup. I think I'm going to put it in tomorrow - I don't own pads or tampons anymore, and it seems like such a waste to buy them. But I also live in a house with a bunch of guys, so boiling it in the kitchen for ten to twenty minutes (I normally just soak it in diluted hydrogen peroxide or wash it with some soap and a toothbrush) isn't going to happen. Not to mention that I don't own a pot to boil it in. Is there a different way to disinfect it so that it doesn't hold on to the yeast? If I just scrub it really well, will that be good enough? Or if I put it in a container of yogurt overnight or something (I have no idea if that's a stupid question)?
All that said, I'm basically asking what my options are if this is a yeast infection, and how I can clean my Diva Cup once my period is over to prevent it from coming back.
Update: I didn't insert my cup today, and it started while I was out. Whoops. So I'm using a tampon right now. As for whether it's chunky - I think it kind of was (there wasn't a lot of it in the first place), but now it's harder to tell. No, I've never had a yeast infection before. Also, it was a lot less itchy today - and my period only started a few hours ago. What does that mean?
Anyway, I won't have access to the internet for the next few days, but I think for now I'm going to use pads for the next few days (tampon was my only option), eat lots of yogurt, and update you guys on Monday? The earliest I can get to the doctor is next Wednesday, anyway, unless it's a real emergency, so I may as well ride it out and see how it goes.
