I put the cup in with the U-fold as described in the instructions. It got sucked so high up the vagina that I couldn't rotate it (a step I forgot anyway). I was pretty sure it popped open though.
It wasn't uncomfortable at all--in fact, I could barely feel it once it was inside.
I emptied it the next morning: about 5mL, plus some clear fluid. So far so good.
Then I had a BM, which pushed the cup out! (No, it didn't end up in the toilet bowl--I caught it coming out with my hands.) One of my worst fears about using a cup.
On the 2nd day, the cup was emptied about 4 times, with about 7.5mL inside each time. For each removal, I had to stick my finger in about 1" to find it; and I had to pull it with some small force because of the suction, carefully making sure the content doesn't spill. Insertion has become easier, but the DC still end up being sucked higher up than at the opening.
Along with the heavier flow, I also started noticing spotting on my pad.
Over the 2nd night, disaster struck--I woke up in the morning to a bedsheet stain the size of my foot (uh-oh). In the bathroom, I found myself with a overfilled cup.
I'm less than half-way through the day, but I already had to empty the cup because I feel my cloth pad is slightly wet. The cup was about 3/4 full when I emptied it.
I didn't discover about this site or other cup before I've bought my DivaCup. Now I have a few questions:
- The heavy flow is fairly typical for me before baby (I'll have to wait to see what's the "new normal"); it's genetic (my mom and all her sisters have heavy flow). If this continues, is it even possible to make a cup--any cup--work for me overnight, without a backup pad?
- Am I inserting the cup way too high? It wasn't intentional, but my body just sucks it upward (TMI?!?!). Is there any way to keep it lower?
- What about the leaks? How do I know if I have a right seal?
