Lunette Cup: trouble taking it out!!

I have a Lunette Menstrual Cup and I am at my first cycle... I have almost no trouble with insertion, just takes a while to master the ability. However, when it comes to removal it's a whole different hell of an experience.

I don't know if this is what is supposed to happen, but the instruction says that the cup should be positioned in the lower part of the vaginal canal and I don't think this is happening. Once inserted it naturally goes far high and I can barely touch the stem when trying to grab it, let alone reach the bottom of the cup and squeeze it. No way.
I don't think I am doing anything wrong, it's just far too high for me to be able to reach it. I always managed these days to take it out in the end, but only because I grab the stem and pull it until the cup is almost out and at that point, I'm finally able to grab the bottom of the damn thing. The instruction says very clearly 'Do NOT pull the stem' so I guess I shouldn't do it, but there's no other way to take it out! It doesn't exactly hurt when I do it, but it's obviously not pleasant as it's still quite difficult to pull the stem cause it's slippery and if I let go the cup goes up again.
Plus -and I hope somebody experienced this as well!- I keep hurting myself with my nails. I don't have excessively long nails, they're simply three, maybe four millimetres up my fingertip but I keep ending up pinching myself while trying to grab the damn thing.

I doubt it should be this amount of stress, so I really hope I am doing something wrong here that I can change, cause the whole idea of having the cup sounds like heaven to me (once in I can barely feel it, it's amazing!). So... is there a way to prevent the cup from going up?
Hope that someone can help! Thank you!
