I've recently wanted a new cup for my heavy days and after getting some feedback here I decided to revisit my fc.
My first few tries with fc were not horrible but in the end I put it away....for a year.....
It was difficult to insert. So much so that I was extremely sore for days! On top of that, it leaked!! So I felt it was not worth the pain to use.
I learned a few things here recently and decided to try again. It was better. I now know it does not have to open completely. I figured out I need to insert it lower than my other cups (fleur, lady, diva2) & it sits lower than my other cups. I totally thought the cup (any) was suppose to HUG the cervix but with this cup I don't think it does, it sits low and the vaginal walls 'snuggle' with it (at least that's how I think).
So does Blocked HOLES=LEAK?? I know this cup has no holes, but I'm wondering....No leaks this time with fc until it was FULL.
Oh, I inserted while lying on my bed....couldn't seem to get it right on the toilet....not the most convenient thing. But once in it stayed/no leaks/no bother for 10-12 HOURS!!!!! And this was on my 2 heaviest days!!
On my 3rd day I tryed to insert while squatting, it just kept popping OUT!!! By the time I got it in, it didn't feel comfy so I removed it & went with my LC....
All said it was a GREAT run!! i just wanted to share what I did in case it can help someone. When searching I didn't find any info. like this, in a single post I guess I should say...
I will definitely keep using it!
I have a b size moon cup (the smaller one). This is the first time I've used it and I'm having some trouble figuring out what is normal and what isn't.
The first time I put it in, last night, I had already trimmed the stem a bit, but the bottom part of the cup and some of the stem were right at the entrance of my vagina. Walking and sitting were making the stem rub on my labia and it was really uncomfortable, but I powered through it and just thought I'd need to trim the stem more.
So maybe an hour and a half later I decided to check on it, and it turns out that it barely collected any blood, and the rest just seemed to run down the sides and onto my underwear. So I washed it and put it away because my vag was sore (from the stem, and also from fighting to remove it).
I tried it again this morning, after trimming the stem some more. I also stuck a finger up there this time to make sure it was expanded fully, and I felt some air go in, so I'm assuming my problem the first time was that it wasn't open all the way. But this time it seems like it went up way higher than I expected. There is still a few mm of stem left on it, but it's all the way up inside now. I have to put my finger inside my vagina to even feel the stem. It feels like the stem is sitting just inside the muscles (kegels?)
Is this normal? Do I just have a really high cervix? I've only tried to feel my cervix once and I had to struggle to reach my middle finger as far up as I could. I don't really want to get a bigger cup because I'm already kind of having problems getting the lip of the moon cup in even after folding it.
Also, I am pretty sure it's open all the way now, I tried to run a finger all the way around and make sure but it was like there wasn't enough room in some spots for my finger to be in there with the cup. Also, the stem is pointing to the right. I tried to push/pull it to the center but it's like it doesn't want to go. Is it normal for it to be tilted a little to one side or the other? And how can I tell if it's opened properly if I can't feel all the way around it to make sure it's round?
I guess I will find out in an hour or two if it's working properly, but I'm really upset and frustrated right now and I need feedback/reassurance. I really want this stupid thing to work but I feel like I'm either doing something wrong or my vagina is shaped wrong for it, or something.
I'm new to menstrual cups. I'm 22 and never had children so I bought the Diva 1 since they are sold in EarthFare. I was really excited to use it since pads are very annoying and tampons are not nice to my lady bits. My period started the day I bought it so my first time using was the first day of my period. My first days are usually pretty light. I had no issues getting it in, using the C fold method. It glided right in and I was able to turn it. I thought it opened and for a while I had no leaks. But then the leaks started.
I have tried over and over again and I can't seem to keep it from leaking. I read some forums, including posts in the community and began to realize that I never heard a suction noise or even felt a suction. When I took the Diva out it just slid out right, no problems and I pulled it out from the stem with no resistance and no pain. So that confirmed that I did not have a good seal.
I have done a bit of searching and I'm not fully sure if my cervix sits low or not but I have to do a bit of reaching before I can touch it so I don't think it sits too low so I don't think the length of the cup is the issue. The stem doesn't bother my either.
My issue I think is the width. I've never had children so I thought Diva 1 was my correct size but maybe I need something wider? I'm new to cups and there are sooooo many so researching them all is a bit overwhelming. Have anyone else had any problems with not being able to get a good seal and switched to a larger size? Did the help?
Also, I've done the finger test where I circle the cup with my finger and it feels like it's totally open but I still have leaks (sometimes really heavy leaks)
Day 2 of my period was full of crazy leaks. That's usually the first of two heavy days.
I really do love the cup. Even though it leaks its so much better than pads or tampons but I started using the Diva in hopes that I wouldn't have to worry about leaks. :(
So, will a wider cup help? And which cups have better seals because the Diva just doesn't want to seal for me and I've tried everything (tips from youtube videos, forums etc). It's very discouraging because I really want to keep using cups!
