Fleurcup Review - Large

I think I found my "Goldilocks" cup, finally! Or, as close to one as I'm going to get!

I'm 5'3", 128 lbs and I have menorrhagia (very heavy period). I experience maybe 2-3 days of heavy flow and I definitely needed a cup with capacity and comfort. The Large Fleurcup finally did the job! I didn't leak at night (but did wake up in time to feel bubbling so I was able to get up to empty it. I slept on my back and briefly on my side.) I spot a bit throughout the day, but I guess that's normal. I use a back-up reusable pad. No worries there. (I love Pink Lemonade's minky line. Easy to clean!)

This time around, I no longer experience surprise gushing or leaking due to a full cup. Now, I can kinda feel a slight bubbling which alarms me enough before an overflow happens. I find that I have to empty it once every 2-3 hours on my heavy days. 2-3 times a day on lighter days.

I cut off the stem for comfort and I love the size of the body! It's rounder in the base than other cups I've tried (Diva, Yuuki) which seems to help during times my cervix might be sitting in the cup.  I love that the cup has large air holes -- I assume this helps with the helpful bubbling warnings I get which has prevented leaking so far. :) And another 10 points for the prominent finger grips on the base. Very handy for pulling the cup out. The shape of the rim is rather nice, too. It's seamless, sloping edge definitely feels more comfortable when inserted. It doesn't feel like it scrapes the sides of my vaginal wall.

I especially love how soft it is. It's squishier than a Diva. My only complaint is that it seems to be stubborn at popping open when I use the punch-down method, but it's nothing major. It eventually does with a little push & pull action. Since it is a size Large, I DO feel its pressure on my bladder, but I'm willing to look past it because it keeps my flow in check.

So, for now, I'm happy! Thanks!

I do have my Yuukis for sale if anyone is interested. --> http://mc-sales.livejournal.com/151914.html

Buying advice for newbie

Hi all!

What an encouraging, supportive community here! I'm completely new to the menstrual cup world, but I've done some searching and want to buy my first. So excited to stop using tampons!

Anyways, I'm 20 years old, pretty petite-- 5'3" and 120 lbs-- not a virgin, and an athlete. My cervix seems to be pretty high-- I can just barely touch it at the start of my period. My flow is usually light to moderate-- the heaviest it ever gets is on days 1-2 of my period, when I fill up a super tampon in around 4 hours. After that, it's pretty light for a few days.

Based on the size chart and the research I've done, I'm deciding among a small MeLuna, a medium MeLuna, and a small Fleurcup. Any recommendations or personal experiences with these or others?

Thank you!!
