Ladycup stem frustrations. Looking for something new

So I own the small Ladycup and I've been using it for about 5 months now. It is my first menstrual cup and overall I have to say that it is pretty good.

After a few days of hit-and-miss, I find inserting/releasing the cup fairly simple, it rarely leaks, and I don't have to empty it too often.

The huge issue I am having though is that the stem quite noticeably pokes my vaginal wall and rubs against it when I move around. It's not the worst feeling ever but it's unpleasant enough that I am looking into getting a new cup.

I've thought about shortening/cutting the stem but found that it was extremely difficult for me to reach the base of the cup with my fingers alone.

Since the stem stops quite a bit up inside me, I'm looking for a cup that is longer and hopefully has more stem to avoid this issue again.

I really enjoy the squishiness of the Ladycup so I'm hoping to find a cup that is similar in that aspect but I'm willing to branch out.

I also think I am going to swap to the large-size because the small Ladycup gets a little lost in there and I find myself changing it every few hours.

I've looked around the forum for a few days now and examined most of the charts and the choices I am looking at most seriously are

  • Large cuplee: this has the length I am seeking (even though the stem is quite small) and it rates as very soft. I am hesitant about getting this cup because I fear it may be too soft and I really don't know if a firmer cup would comfortable and/or stop the occasional leaks I get with my Ladycup
  • Large Lunette: I really like the way that this cup is shaped and it's length/stem make it look pretty ideal to me but I keep hearing that it is super firm.
  • Large Fleurcup: I like the size of this cup and I also like that it is of apparently similar softness to the Ladycup
  • Large Yuuki: The Yuuki rates as quite large but I like the shape of it. Like the Lunette, it is apparently very firm

So overall I'm hoping to get some opinions from people who have used a few of these cups (and maybe used the Ladycup) about what worked out for them.

Advice in particular about firmness would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Diva cup. New. Discomfort. Heavy flow

I just got the diva cup yesterday & I'm completely new to cups so I'm expecting time to get the hang of it. I'm 34 & have 2 kids. I'm having no problems getting it in & out but I'm sure it's gonna take time to get it perfect.
Are these normal newby problems? And tips to correct them if you have:
-Seems like I put it in (up & back) so the tip is just inside but it seems my body kinda sucks it up further...so it causes pressure/discomfort bc it's up high.
-I have a HEAVY flow & after 2hrs I gotta empty bc it's more than 1/2 full & since its going up I'm getting pressure & I figure I'll empty so I can put it lower.
-Bc I'm taking out so often I'm getting slightly irritated at the opening or do you think it's the stem?
-Should I try turning it inside out so soon to see if that'll help w/pressure on my cervix?
-Do heavy flowers use pads also on their heavy days for extra protection? Or after time I'll be able to go pad-less
Tips? I've googled & youtubed a lot so I know the diva is the biggest cup but since my flow is heavy (only the 1st 2-3 days) I thought it would be better. Last night I emptied before bed 10:15pm & at 5am it was completely full, my pad was full & I leaked :(...thank goodness I have a pad I use each month to protect my bed :-/

Higher capacity cup?

Sorry that this is my second post, but I just finished my first cycle with my small DivaCup. There were some small issues, and thanks to responses on my first post, I learned to effectively clean the air holes to avoid clogging as much as possible. Thank you for that advice! From day three and onward, it was pretty much smooth sailing.

I did see that on my first two days (my heaviest days), I would probably have to empty my cup every two hours. That wouldn't be such a problem at home, but this Fall I'll be going back to college (and staying in a dorm this time). Emptying every two hours just sounds like such a hassle in stalls around campus. It felt really good not to use pads this cycle, so I wouldn't want to resort to wearing pads as backup if I can help it.

So I'm looking for a higher capacity cup. I saw that the MeLuna XL holds up to 42ml up to the rim, in comparison to my Diva's 30ml to the rim  (I remember on my second day, my DivaCup was filled to the rim in a bit less than two hours). Also, as others mentioned, my cervix is probably taking up some space in the cup, making it fill faster. MeLuna's XL cup has a wider rim, so would that help my cervix take up less space? Also, I'm guessing MeLuna's holes are bigger, so that would stop the problem I may had had with the holes clogging up on my heavy days and thus, breaking the seal. I'm not sure if that was what actually happened in one of my leaking episodes, but I thought I should mention it in case there is some truth in the matter.

Also, I mentioned that I always have trouble getting my cup to open. It seems that the C-fold opens easier because it has less folds, but that still takes some five minutes to get it open with some twisting and turning. I haven't tried laying on my back as someone suggested (I'll try that later tonight when people just won't barge into my room), but I can't really do that outside my home if it does work. The Diva's is a 4 on stiffness while the XL MeLuna is a 6, so I'm thinking that would help make it pop open easier.

I'm not sure if there are other cups that would benefit me in capacity and stiffness (the MeLuna XL was the one that caught my eye with capacity). If another cup won't necessarily give me more capacity, then that's alright then. I will just have to make due with more bathroom breaks and perhaps a backup pad. I just thought I would put this out there in case there is a better cup for my heavier days. Any help or suggestions is appreciated!
