girl\\cat hair

(no subject)

So after this post earlier (http://menstrual-cups.livejournal.com/2892929.html) about meluna cups having a canadian website and being half off, I am ordering two different cups. I have questions about the size though, and am curious to know what others think.

I have a very short vagina, and low riding cervix (I can insert my finger to the second knuckle and feel my cervix). I am almost 29 and have never given birth.  I am currently using a small Divacup turned inside out with the stem cut entirely off. I have a light-medium flow (my cup is NEVER full, even when I go 12-18 hrs without emptying it), and have no issues with insertion or anything.

I am thinking about getting a Pink Meluna soft cup in size Medium, and a purple classic cup in size medium.  Am I correct in thinking that a Medium size would be good? Or should I go for the small one?  The guide on this website (http://mommaof3-littlebits.blogspot.ca/2011/12/meluna-menstrual-cups.html) says that a medium should be appropriate for my flow, but not my age. The capacity of the small though is more in line with what I need.

Also, since the softcup is so soft, do you think it will be a large trial and error period/learning curve to learn the softer cup? Will I need a stem/ball/ring to remove it since it is softer, or will the basic with grips be enough?

Thanks for any advice :)

I think I might have a problem...

Hello all! I'm not exactly new to the menstrual cup scene but I don't have a lot of experience with anything other than DivaCup.
I'm a 24 year old mom of 2 (both c-sections). I bought my size 2 Diva Cup before having my second child and it worked wonderfully! I really want to get back to that!

After I had my second child I didn't have a period for over a year until she started eating more solid food, so I didn't really have an opportunity to use my cup. When my period finally came back I used cloth pads for a bit and finally went back to my Diva. Maybe tmi, but I'm actually quite a bit tighter since having my second. The period I used my Diva cup was a little uncomfortable but mostly bearable. I was starting to toy with the idea of buying a different cup. It was really hard to get the cup in because it was so big, no matter how I folded it. Also the stem poked out and irritated me. The second and most recent cycle was pure hell. It was still hard to get in because of the size and also difficult to remove. Both very pretty painful. The more I had to remove and insert it the worse it got. By the end of my period I was completely raw and in agony.

I think I need a smaller around and shorter cup. I also feel a softer cup may be more comfortable. I don't know if it's important or not but the first 3 days or so of my period are really heavy. I would completely fill my Diva Cup to the rim at least 3+ times daily, generally more frequently.

I would absolutely love any suggestions anyone might have for me!

Meluna Canadian Website Open

I found this today while browsing the web - meluna.ca is what looks to be a new distribution website for Meluna.

They have some awesome specials at the moment - half price on the Classic Meluna Cups and Soft Cups. They don't seem to have the full range but I wanted to point it out because it might be a good way to pick up an inexpensive Meluna Cup if you have been wanting to try one :)

It does say that they ship from Germany but it also says that shipping to the US usually only takes two days so I'm not 100% on what that's about..

First attempt failed

I'm 15 and a virgin. I ordered size 1 Lunette. Today, because I was expecting my period, I tried to use it. I tried the punch-down fold and a mirror (though I'd consider myself very familar with my anatomy). I didn't think I had a hymen until today. I stayed very relaxed (in the beginning, at least). I squatted on the ground and such, but I couldn't get it near in. At one point I let go and it popped (which was excrutiating). I tried to bear down. I feel like my vagina disappeared because I had NO idea where it was. The punch-down fold seemed like the smallest fold to me. After about 10minutes, now crying and in pain, I tried with a finger. No problem. I can handle fingers, that's easy, but the cup seemed impossible. I eventually gave up because I was stressed out, cussing at my vag, and probably tensed up. It hurt sooo bad to sit down and down there still hurts a little bit.
I don't want to wait, but that was such a negative experience, another part of me never wants to try again. I read up a lot before buyingn and I really want it to work out!
Does anyone have advice?
