Okay, so I have some questions.
I'm 25 and I've only recently become sexually active. Before then, I never used tampons because even trying to insert them was complete agony (I'm pretty sure I may suffer from vaginismus). Now that I've actually started using tampons, I've realized how uneconomical they are. I don't normally have a super heavy flow, so I can wear a pad for much longer than is recommended to wear a tampon. Furthermore, since I'm still a newbie when it comes to inserting tampons, there's a lot of trial and error which tends to result in wasted tampons. Therefore, I've been looking into the MUCH more cost-effective alternative of the menstrual cup.
However, since a menstrual cup IS a fairly large investment, I want to make sure I get the right one. I'd hate to drop $40+ on something that isn't the right fit for me. Since my flow isn't particularly heavy and I'm a 25-year-old who has never had children, I don't think I would need a very large cup. I felt around and I THINK my cervix is about 3-4 cm in, but I'm not completely sure because to be honest, I have no idea what exactly the cervix feels like.
I could get a DivaCup at the pharmacy, but like I said, it's $40, so I'm reluctant to buy one unless I think it would be my best bet. From what I've heard, DivaCups are the biggest out there, and I'm wondering if I should go for something else instead. I'd love some advice because I'm so new to all of this and I really do not want to essentially throw away money on the wrong choice.
Anyway, thanks in advance for any input. :)
Well, you guys were so helpful before, I was hoping someone else is in a similar situation that I am.
A month ago, I totes got the hang of using this cup. It went in, popped, and did not leak.
Then, right after that cycle, I had to go get a LEEP done. For those who don't know the gross details, they removed about 10% of my cervix that was pre-cancerous cells. SUPER fun. I specifically asked if i would be able to use my cup and the doc seemed to think so because i would be all healed up by then. Well, now that time has come again and I can't get the damn thing to work now!
I do everything I did before. The first time this cycle I put it in, I noticed it was kinda pokey/painful and tried to push the cup in a better place, but it still leaked. Second time, much better insertion and didn't feel it at all, so I thought I'd done it correctly this time. Nope, still leaking. I've taken it out now, kind of stumped. I've tried turning the cup, pushing it in further, just messing with it, hoping it will seal. I guess my big question is, do you think this has to do with the surgery? Do I need to think about a different cup? What techniques can I use to do better? Thanks!
I am 27 yo woman married no children and need help there are too many choices. From what I can tell my cervix is about 2.5 to 3 inches high and I have a moderate to high flow. Does anyone have any suggestions. And also I am going to Hawaii and was wondering if a cup would be a good choice for swimming.
