hand surgery smack dab in the middle of my period

I'm having surgery on my right hand - my dominant hand - tomorrow morning and it will be day 5 of my period.   My period usually lasts 7-9 days.

I'm planning to clean and re-insert my cup before leaving for the hospital and hopefully my flow will be light enough by tomorrow I will be able to leave it in all day.
I've been trying to practice left handed insertion, and I can get a C-fold in with my left hand.  But I can't get it to open consistently.
I usually use a punch down fold with my right hand.  I just can't seem to manage keeping the punch down closed till it passes my pubic bone when I try using the left hand.
I'm wondering if I should just suck it up and plan on using pads for the rest of this cycle...  waaaaa!

I would really appreciate any tips or suggestions for non-dominant hand removal and insertion!

Yuuki better than Diva?

Hi all,

I've joined this community as it's been a really good help to me so far and now I need your help again!

I bought a menstrual cup as soon as I heard they existed.
I'm an italian living in the UK so I found very easy to buy a UK mooncup. I just had to cross the road to have one!
Unfortunately it was not the right cup for me. It rides up too much and it leaks. Removal was a nightmare even with the whole stem. After having a look at many posts here, I decided to buy a Diva model 2 as it is one of the longest, if not the longest.

I tried it and it works quite well. Removal is not an issue anymore,  I don't even have to bear down to catch it. It goes up a bit but I just need a big push and it comes out.

However, I've got a couple of problems. One is that it doesn't pop open very easily. I probably solved this by using the 7-fold but it doesn't work OK all the time, I'm still working on it. But the big issue is that I'm not sure if it leaks. I don't find proper leaks on the pad, which I put as a back up, but if I put my finger inside just at the bottom of the cup, I find blood. Plus, when I walk I have a strange feeling down there, like something is moving... I feel like I'm leaking badly which is actually not true, but it still feels weird, a bit unconfortable and makes me want to remove the cup. I also trimmed the stem a bit as I thought it could poke inside and move the cup but it didn't help much.
I'm on day 4 of my period today and can't feel a thing (same thing yesterday) which is wonderful but there is pretty much nothing in terms of blood now so I don't think it counts. I don't have very heavy periods and it actually lasts just 2/3 days...
I think I will give an other go to the Diva because it's long and I know I can remove it without too much trouble, but I'm thinking about getting an other one like the Yuuki. It is long as well but I don't know if it is better than the Diva in terms of leaks. I heard that the fluercup makes a very good seal and it's got bigger holes but I'm afraid it will be too short for me.
What do you think? Has one of you tried both Diva and Yuuki so that can give me advice?
Thanks a lot!
