I have been using a Diva sz 2 for about 5 months. Even though I have loved using a cup, I think that it doesn't fit me correctly as it occasionally leaks and sometimes almost falls out (slips down and I can't seem to get it to stay)! I definitely cannot imagine running with it in as I feel it sliding down. This only randomly happens, not all the time. It is surprising that it slides down at times as I felt the suction was very strong in the beginning.
I am 38 and have given birth to 1 sweet boy 4 yrs ago. My cervix does seem to be very low at menstruation start, and then moves up. I have a fairly moderate flow, and have never overflowed the diva. I have totally trimmed the stem down and ONLY use it inside out. I have not had any problems removing it inside out. The stem irritated me way too much the right side out. Therefore, I would like one with a shorter length but not sure about diameter since I've had slipping. I am in US. Possible MeLuna? Not sure about sizing, medium or large?
Thankyou for any help!!
When I started researching on here, and saw information about measuring your cervix, I assumed from what I knew about myself as a sexually active adult that I would find my cervix was fairly low. After reading the measurements on the cup I currently use, the Keeper, I assumed I was going to find that my cervix was pretty deep, since the Keeper is one of the longer cups and it tends to ride pretty high for me when it's in. THEN I actually followed the directions on here, did some poking around, and found my cervix quite easily (and I have short little fingers).
I'm pretty confused then why the Keeper is riding so high inside me. I have given birth - maybe I need something shorter and wider, like the large Lunette? The Keeper leaks for me - not a lot, just enough to leave a little smudge on a pantyliner. Has anyone else had this experience, or can suggest something?
How many cups do you own? Different kinds, or multiples of the same? Do you keep them in desginated places( your purse, the car, desk)? Are you a cloth pad user as well?
I own two divas. I thought I lost my original diva- so I bought a new one to replace it.
I used menstrual cups for several years in the past, of varying different kinds. I only stopped using them because I suctioned out an IUD with one, and when I got my next IUD I didn't feel comfortable using it.
Then various gynaecological problems happened, resulting in that for nearly 2 years I've felt unable to use a menstrual cup. The one time I tried it was really uncomfortable. I'm finally feeling healed enough inside and fed up enough of using pads (even cloth ones aren't that great in the summer when you have heavy flow) that I decided to try a cup.
I went for the medium meluna because the small definitely seemed like it'd be too small and slip down, and the large looked like it'd be uncomfortably big. The ball stem appealed to me and I've read it's the most squidgy cup. The wider rim should mean it'll stay in easier, but it's not as stiff as the mooncupUK which pressed uncomfortably on me.
The first few times I tried to get it in, it just wasn't happening. I think nerves/fear etc meant I was clenching up, as I couldn't even get it in me. Eventually, I managed whilst sat on the toilet. I'm not menstruating atm, I wanted to do some dry runs so I'd be back in the groove before my period started.
The problem I'm having now I've finally managed to relax enough to insert is as follows:
I can't seem to find a fold that means it stays closed long enough to insert it and then pops open easily. If I use the punch down fold it goes in fine, but then won't open. The c fold is definitely way too big. The 7 fold seems to be the best one for size purposes, but then when I tried to use that it popped open really early and that HURT.
The MeLuna only has two small holes and seems to have uber suction. When I finally managed to get it in (albeit too low) it had formed a really tight seal which I just could not break until I'd pulled it far down, and that HURT too.
I've been using water to ease it's insertion, but I think a lubricant would help. The only lubricants I have atm are oil based though and I'm not sure if they're safe to use with TPE.
Please help with suggestions, even if they are that I'd be better off using a different cup!
So I've heard some rumors that the cup may cause endo. I know that it sounds unlikely that blood would flow back in, but I don't want to bet my fertility on that. Can someone reassure me that it's not going to cause endo? Or let me know that yes, there is in fact a chance of it happening?
