I'm Loving It!

I didn't think this would happen so soon, but I think I'm in love with my Diva Cup! The beginning was really difficult, and caused me great pain. However as my confidence and my comfortability grew, I was better able to insert and remove the cup.

Yesterday, I went hiking. I inserted the cup around 10am (my 3rd day which is iffy sometimes heavy, sometimes not). I still wore a panty liner just in case, but as most ladies know... they don't hold up to sweaty activities. I was a little worried about leakage around 3:30, simply because I'm not familiar enough with my flow in relation to the volume the cup holds, and all my sweating had rendered my panty liner useless. It took another 2+ hours from my initial worrying, before we got back to a real restroom.

My Diva cup rocks! Eventhough I was all sweaty and actively moving about for hours at a time, there were no leakages, no nothing. I emptied it, and it wasn't even half full. Now I can't wait to go hiking again, anytime of the month will be fine. I don't think an OB super tampon would have held up for such a long time under the strains of such physical activity.

Thanks again to everyone here. I've read many many posts and thanks to those who've responded to my posts with tips and words of encouragement. Thanks for sharing your experiences that way we all know, someone else has been there and lived to tell the tale. Thanks all around and have a nice week! : )

p.s.
Now that I'm used to it, I think I'll just keep the #2 cup.

(no subject)

Hello again gals! Dry run number THREE with my Diva Cup has proved very successful! Day by day, I seem to be making more progress. This is magnificent...considering I figured I'd be one of the people who couldn't even get the damn thing in. But alas, I don't have to worry about that since I was able to insert with both the punch down AND c fold methods...without lube might I add! I'm not sure which one I like better yet. It'll most likely be a lot easier to tell once my period comes. Also, I am able to remove the cup without having to fold it (I've heard some people need to fold as it is painful for them to remove the cup without folding). It hurts a bit when it comes all the way out, but the pain only lasts for a few seconds and I'm good to go.

A few more questions before I head out:

I know I've probably asked this before, but now that I have a clear visual of what I'm asking, I'm going to go ahead. When I insert my cup, I really have to push to get it all in there. I'm supposed to be pushing downwards when I do it right? Towards my tailbone? The stem of the cup seems to be just at the enterence of my vagina. It doesn't hurt, but I'm worried about it moving down and then becoming painful and/or leaking. Where exactly should the stem be in proportion to my vagina? Does it mean it's not all the way in if the stem is just at the enterance? I mean, it was inside of my vagina. But all I had to do was sit down a bit and spread my labia and I could see the stem. When I moved around though, I felt no discomfort at all. Couldn't even tell the thing was in there.

Second, I'm still worried about getting the thing to open, as this is quite a chore for me to do. I don't think I've been able to get it open once in all the times I've inserted it. I hear no suction noise, and I feel nothing. It's very easy to pull it out, and that's how I know it's not open (since I don't have to pinch the bottom). Some say that it will naturally open once I start walking? Maybe once I get a little more used to the cup I can get my fingers all the way up there and play around with it. But as of now, I'm very much a beginner. Hell, I'm not even sure if I'm putting the thing in all the way!

But I have to say, so far I'm impressed with the ease of getting my cup in. It's much easier than I thought it'd be. Me likes so far :0)

Drying the DivaCup

Just a quick question:

No matter what I use to dry my DivaCup after washing it (cloth towels, paper towels, old t-shirts), it always seems to leave lots of dust and fibers on it, which I have to very carefully brush off with my finger because it seems like it might irritate my vagina. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you just ignore the dust and fibers, or is there a way to dry it so this doesn't happen?
