Bloodheart

(no subject)

Because I recommend cups to as many people as possible, and I get a lot of questions on them, I thought it would be worth asking this - particularly as I never had any problems with my cup;

What problems have you ladies had using a cup for the first time?
How did you overcome this problem?

Any problems you have with menstrual cups in general?
[Both in terms of use and the actual products themselves, perhaps issues with manufacturers or sales teams]

Outdoor/Remote Insertion/Removal

So, in a few months I will be in the middle of an outdoor leadership training course in the middle of nowhere, Baja Mexico - and, if my period stays on the course it's on - on the rag. Or, more appropriately, "On the Cup". I will be hiking, rock scrambling, caving, sea kayaking, camping, etc. Far away from a bathroom.
On the one hand, this makes me very glad that I have a diva cup because part of the leadership training is the "Leave No Trace" philosophy (for those of you not involved in the outdoor world, this is relevant because what you cary in you also cary out. Including used tampons). On the other - how the hell am I going to insert and remove my diva cup while squatting in the middle of the desert?

I've been using the diva cup since April-ish of this year and I've found myself a little system where it hardly takes me any time at all anymore to change it. It involves sitting on the edge of the tub with my feet on the other edge - giving me just the right angle to pop it in and get goin'. I only need to change it twice - once in the morning and once at night. I have yet to have any experience with leakage, thankfully.

Anyway. What I am wondering is if anyone has any ideas, hints, clues, experiences with outdoor removal and insertion of their diva cup/keeper?

Thank you.

P.S. No, I am not on birth control so I can't "skip my period". Besides the fact that I don't need to be on bc, I do not believe in messing with my body's hormones to skip a period.

A general "thank you"

Hi group... after the *third* month, I've finally got it down. Thanks to your previous advice, I've cut the stem completely off my Diva Cup, it's finally in and not hurting, I made sure it expanded, and it's not uncomfortable at all. Finally... NOT LEAKING! Oh glorious day. If it hadn't worked this time, I was going to give up. This group is great. ;-)
