my new diva cup

yesterday was my first day to use my new divacup and I don't quite have the hang of it yet.
It catches some, but some always leaks out too. When I take it out the sides are always covered in blood and the only reason I haven't been completely grossed out by the whole experience is that the blood is fresh and clean as opposed to smelly and clotty.

Yesterday I took a bath with it in and got watery blood on my pad when I got out.

I'm really excited about this diva cup and even with the leaking I'm better off with it than without it but can you please offer me some tips for how to make it seal properly?

Maybe I need the bigger size, but I'm a pretty small person so my guess is that I'm just not sealing it properly and or putting it in wrong somehow.

cup sterilization advice

Here is the problem. I accidentally dropped my cup in the toilet... Hands were a little too wet I guess. Now, if I was home, I would just boil it; but I am living in a university residence where I share a kitchen with several people I don't know that well. I don't want to have to explain what I am doing to them, and I imagine they might not be too keen on my using the shared cookware to do it. I thought I would just get some of that baby sterilizing stuff, but I can only find it in 2-litre jugs! That's a bit more than I need. Does anyone have suggestions for a home-brew sterilizing solution, or other ways I might disinfect my Diva?
