Newbie & have been browsing around all your interesting discussions. Have just ordered a Lunette, but have one question that's intriguing me...
It may sound a little morbid, so feel free to tune out. I work in a hospital so hence the pondering.
What if you were wearing your cup & you were in an accident?
Like... in a coma?
If you were wearing a pad, it's obvious you're having a period.
If you're wearing a tampon, the ICU nurse would see the string & take it out so it didn't get infected.
But if you're using a cup, no-one would know, right? Even when it started leaking because it wasn't changed, they wouldn't expect a cup to be there. Potentially all that blood would just stay put... & even though TSS isn't an issue normally, leaving the blood sitting there would be a problem.
This thought has freaked me out a bit. Somehow I can deal with the concept of being in a coma but the idea of getting infections due to pooled old period blood grosses me out. Has anyone else considered this?
Maybe I should make a card to put in my wallet, organ-donor style?
