A couple questions about size and position

Hi, this is my first cycle using the cup (I don't know if it matters or not, but I'm also a virgin and 22 years old).  I have a small Lunette.  I posted in this community a while back, after an unsuccessful dry run, and received lots of good advice and encouragement (one of which was to not try another dry run, just wait patiently!)  Until today everything was really good.  I still haven't quite gotten the hang of everything perfectly, but I used it for three days with no real big problems.

There was one (little?) thing I had a little bit of trouble with.  On the first day I had to be really active (which was the third day using it) I had trouble with the cup tilting to the side (always the same side), which didn't cause any leaks, but the stem was poking the wall of the vagina.  It was pretty painful sometimes.  Does anyone else have to deal with this?

The big problem came today (my fourth day).  At first, I was having trouble getting it to pop open.  I finally got it somehow, and went to class.  But I could feel it pressing harder on my insides, almost like my muscles weren't expanding enough to let it sit comfortably.  It was pretty painful.  I went to check on it, and it was riding lower than the past few days, but I couldn't get it any higher, either by pushing with my fingers or "kegeling" it.  I finally just decided to take it out and go with a pad.  Which is frustrating because even though my flow can be really light at this point in my cycle, I had hoped to use the cup until I didn't need anything anymore.  Has anyone else run into this problem?  Should I maybe buy a smaller cup for the end of my cycle?
