I actually looked for a larger/longer cup, because I can't even reach my cervix on a good day. So, that's my "other" for "what do you look for in a cup" :)
Bmrsbenglish on September 18th, 2009 06:38 pm (UTC)
I've only ever used the Diva, and had only 1 problem with it in 4 years, and it must have just been an off day because its been great ever since.
Sarah1girl on September 18th, 2009 06:50 pm (UTC)
Another thing I try to stay away from in a cup is slickness. That was the biggest reason why I didn't like the LadyCup. The material was too slippery and it was a struggle to grip it well enough to get it out easily.
khendrix85khendrix85 on September 18th, 2009 08:10 pm (UTC)
i hated that too but i summed it up to its complete lack of a reinforced bottom or at least good grips on the bottom.
aedificaaedifica on September 19th, 2009 01:17 am (UTC)
Me too. I think I'd really like the LadyCup if there were anything there to get a grip on so I could cut the stem off, but as it is I need the stem for removal, and it pokes me when I wear it.

This bothered me a bit at the start, but I got used to it. I would *prefer* grip rings like on the Lunette, but the LadyCup is fine now that I've had more practice. This is still my favourite cup.
m03m on September 19th, 2009 05:23 pm (UTC)
The slipperiness of the LadyCup bothered me during the first two cycles I used it, then I came to grips with it, so to speak. I'm OK with it now, and I love how comfortable the cup is.
Vanessaoboegoddess on September 18th, 2009 07:10 pm (UTC)
The main thing I look for in a cup is whether it works without leaking. Of the two cups I've tried, the Divacup worked, and the Keeper always leaked. I'm not sure if this is related to the holes placement or not.
fireaphidfireaphid on September 18th, 2009 07:12 pm (UTC)
I said I use the small even though it's recommended I use the large, but that's only sort of true. Lunette's size recommendations are very "do what you feel is best" so even though they pointed in the general direction of the large, I chose the small anyway, and it's worked great.

Also, what I looked for in a cup was a flat tab stem not for sturdiness but for comfort. I also wanted a narrow cup with a long combined stem+body length. So that would correspond with staying away from a hollow/ball stem and a wide or short cup.
Goat Friendsfrolicnaked on September 19th, 2009 04:18 am (UTC)
I'm sort of like that.

I said I use a small as directed because for 2 of the 3 cups I've used, that was the case. There's one where I use the small even though it's recommended I use a large. (The small totally works, though.)
Jackie Calypigialdy_shadow on September 18th, 2009 09:13 pm (UTC)
I selected that I look for a small cup over all, but that's kinda inaccurate. I look for a short, wide cup to accomodate my short, childbirthed vagina.

I stay away from long cups. I'm not kidding when I say my hoohah is short.

Also, the best described usage is kinda lacking - I use either, it doesn't make much of a difference with the MCUK. If I'm using the smaller one, though, I do need to empty it more often or it'll leak. No issues ever with my larger one.
Dina Clare: dreamlintilla on September 18th, 2009 11:54 pm (UTC)
Yeah, it's kinda inaccurate for me, too - I just went for the shortest cup (at the time).
Sir Digby Chicken Caesarnecromance on September 18th, 2009 09:46 pm (UTC)
What I looked for in my cup was the fact that I could buy in a nearby store. I was a bit of an emergency and I couldn't wait for shipping times.

That said, it's my first cup and I've had it for only two months now.

I've also tried insteads, which I did not like at all.
khendrix85khendrix85 on September 18th, 2009 10:58 pm (UTC)
i figured if i added insteads to the poll, everyone who tried them would but them down as their least favorite cup. lol
missKitty_79: dismissalmisskitty_79 on September 20th, 2009 05:29 am (UTC)
Except those for whom it's the only one that's even remotely functional!
melissa569melissa569 on September 19th, 2009 12:12 am (UTC)
I prefer cups that are not too big, but have decent capacity. I'm real short, so a big/long cup bothers me. But my flow is a little heavy, so I can't have one with low holes.
elizabby: ACup iconelizabby on September 19th, 2009 04:18 am (UTC)
I think it is interesting that of the 3 "stem" options, this community is currently divided almost exactly into equal thirds!

I think the longer I'm on this community the more I realize that there really IS no single "best" cup for everyone.
shivadidj on September 19th, 2009 05:03 am (UTC)
yeah, it's also funny that the Diva is both the best loved, and the most hated cup (or perhaps least loved is a better phrasing). I guess it just shows it's the most commonly tried?
elizabby: ACup iconelizabby on September 19th, 2009 05:18 am (UTC)
Yes, I think it is. Makes sense though - this board has a majority of American members, and the Diva is made and sold in the USA.

From here in Australia, the prices were all very similar, as any cup has to be imported, so I just chose the one that I thought would suit me best. For a couple of bucks, price wasn't really an issue.
Dina Clare: dreamlintilla on September 19th, 2009 11:30 am (UTC)
Well, it's made in Canada. But, you know. North America. ;)
gold_heron on September 20th, 2009 02:16 am (UTC)
That is funny. But for me, I had to answer both! I love my large Diva, but not my small Diva. And in reverse, I love my small Lunette, but not my large one. Who can account for the preferences of vaginas?

Picking a favorite was hard. I love my large Diva and my small Lunette. In the end I went for the diva becasue now I can sleep through the night with no leaks, yay!
scarletwildfire on September 19th, 2009 02:14 pm (UTC)
I would have also choosen "wants : ridges at the bottom of the cup"
hmmeversochili on September 19th, 2009 09:37 pm (UTC)
I use a large cup because I wanted the widest possible rim. I am prone to leaking and I figured if the opening is as wide as possible, I'm less likely to miss covering my cervix.
missKitty_79: insteadmisskitty_79 on September 20th, 2009 05:26 am (UTC)
Why is it that everyone always forgets to include Insteads? :(
