My daughter, Olivia, loves my diva cup. I made reference to her love of it on facebook and I got some puzzled responses. "What the hell is a menstrual cup??"¤t=Movie37.flv

My mom just handed me a book about it and sent me on my way. I was pretty much freaking out when I got my first period. I didn't think I was dying, just didn't seem right that I bled.

It still doesn't seem fair! =(

Love the vid, though. <3

That is ADORABLE! Your daughter is so cute, and it's fantastic that you're not stigmatizing menstruation for her.

my daughter is 18 months and fascinated by the cup (she usually sees me emptying it.) this video makes me look forward to when we can talk more about and she'll be able to understand! very cool! :)

My four year old was obsessed with the Diva cup box and my cloth pads. It makes me look forward to talked to her about it too.

Awww, reminds me of me and my mom. She didn't know about cups, of course. But I'm sure if she would have been a cup user back then, she would have made sure I knew.

Too cute!

My mom, too.

In fact, this video prompted the following discussion with my girlfriend:

Her: Ugh, that is going to be one traumatized kid.
Me: Uh, why? She doesn't look traumatized to me.
Her: Well, not now, but later, when she realizes...
Me: WTF? I saw my mom's menstrual blood when I was a kid, and I'm not traumatized...

Glad I had the upbringing I did!

That's wonderful! My five year old is the same way - with my cup, my cloth pads, our cloth wipes, etc. She's fascinated and she loves to tell people about them. When people come over and see a stack of cloth wipes in the bathroom, they're usually a little stumped. But Delanie is more than happy to explain why we have them. I just hope that she'll be just as enthusiastic when she starts her period and opts for cloth/cup.

Wow that's awesome!! My daughter is 6 and we've already discussed a few times what happens when I have my period, and that she'll get one. I haven't gotten my cup yet (I ordered it a few days ago) but your vid makes me excited about possible experiences with her.
