So I am a virgin who has recently discovered masturbation. I use a menstrual cup and was wondering what, if any, effects the cup will have on orgasming and masturbation in general? Any personal experiences, positive or negative?
Thanks

I'm also a virgin, and I have not had any problems with my small Lunette and masturbation. Masturbating before inserting the cup makes insertion easier, more for relaxation of muscles than lubrication. Hope this helps!

You may want to empty the cup before you masturbate in order to ensure your orgasmic contractions don't squish blood out of the cup if it's full. As well, you probably want to check to ensure it's in the right place post orgasm because it's quite possible that your contractions will shift it. otherwise, leave it in! I masturbate with mine in all the time :)

I've never had any problems. It makes both insertion and removal easier because of the added relaxation and lubrication, though.

I have noticed my cup shift, usually upwards, after masturbation. This causes a bit of a problem when I'm using my LadyCup since my cervix sits pretty high, but other than that I haven't had any complications.

Seconding that last bit. I use a Diva Cup and the next morning, it's always up higher. I haven't had any problems with it leaking or anything, but I usually go after I've taken a shower and dumped it.

Hmm, that could be a good thing. I never thought about that.

I find that I actually feel the need to masturbate more during my period than any other time. However, I found it messy, so I would have to wait a whole 5-8 days until my period was over. Now, with the cup, I don't have to. My menstrual fluid stays inside the cup, while my arousal fluid is still clear and completely bypasses my cup. It makes masturbating during my period a lot clearner, so that's a big plus.

I have always been more sexually driven during my period as well. Which is unfortunate when my husband isn't in the mood that week and other problems associated with sex and being on my period.

As have I, but especially right before. Actually, it's one of the ways I can tell I'm about to start.

I've had my cup now for a few months. Masturbating with it in hasn't been a problem. As others have said, if anything, it makes it a little cleaner. I do suggest, as others have, to empty your cup before masturbating especially if it's been a while since you last emptied it because the muscle contraction could be strong enough to squeeze out some of the contents; I also empty it afterward or shortly thereafter as blood flow can increase.

I'm also one who masturbates to help with insertion and removal, especially on days when I can tell that I'm otherwise pretty dry - with the cup in, I typically have no lubrication from blood (my cup rarely leaks, and unless it does, everything stays in the cup during removal and insertion) so masturbating helps with that. Like sabishii, my cup moves upward after masturbating, but my cervix does too, so it's all good - if anything, I typically have a better seal from it. I'd hazard a guess that every woman is different in this aspect, however. ;)

So glad you asked this! I've been wondering the same thing myself...noticed that the cup does tend to ride higher after masturbation, and actually does feel much "cleaner." But yeah, I wouldn't try it with a full cup.

I meant to comment on this days ago and then was drowning in paper-writing, but I figured I'd get back to it now. Yeah, so, I've found that actually my cup often presses on my G-spot, providing some extra stimulation. This makes for masturbation funtimes!

Mine also rides up higher in my vagina after orgasm, but definitely has a better seal after I've orgasmed with it in.

me too! on all counts. i find that having my divacup in (or even an instead softcup in [which feels amazing during sex, by the way, despite cellophane noises]) intensifies my orgasms. and my hands don't get all bloody! it's all around wonderful
