an IUD question

I'm not sure if this is appropriate but I'm getting kinda worried and I don't know where else I can ask this. I've had an Mirena since Feb of 08 and for a while my monthly bleeding stopped. Then it started again after a few months, then it went away for a few months and now I'm bleeding again. Is that normal? I thought the Mirena was supposed to eleminate monthly bleedings or at least make them shorter and lighter. My body could just be all for this menstruating thing. IF this is wrong to post here, I'm very sorry, but I wanted to know since I invested in the cup before and since I'm not bleeding quite enough for the cup I may need to invest in some cloth pads for the time being.
