Insertion troubles

I have been reading this community for many months now, having bought a cup a while ago, and I love that this community is here - it really is wonderful.
I'm having problems with my cup (the smaller lunette). I'm a 16 year old virgin, and I haven't actually got it in yet, so I'm getting a bit frustrated.
The problem is that I cannot seem to fit the cup in. It looks as if I should be able to (when I use a mirror), and I can put in a finger with no problems, but I just feel pain when I try with the cup. I've tried with different folds and I'm being careful to put it in at the right angle. I've tried many, many times in the past few days (I'm currently on my period), and I've just had no luck. It must be the hymen in the way, but I don't know what to do about that. I've been reading through all the community's entries and searching around, but all the entries I have read about this problem don't seem to have a solution for this other than somehow having it tear, but I don't have a very high pain tolerance in places where I'm not used to pain. I am really looking forward to actually being able to use my lunette - I think it's an ingenious alternative!
Should I give up on this, or is there something else I can do? Thanks.
