Should I wait?

I've been meaning to go to a gyno for a long time and have myself checked for some abnormal sensations and etc. Should I do this before I use a cup for the first time? (if it turns out to be a yeast infection, if I use the cup now, it will become infected and I'll never be cured... am I right?) So is it best to wait and get checked out or is it safe to use the cup before I go to the gyno?
