First "real" time

This is the first time I've actually had my period with my cup. I did a few dry runs and they went great, found out punch down works best for me and I can get it out no problems. Since I've started my period, and used my Diva, I've been a little sore and crampy. I shoved a toothpick through the holes in the top when I first got it (until the middle of the toothpick was on the hole), and chopped the stem off already. In addition to the achy feelings I've been having I'm also getting a kind of burning sensation, kind of like I'm getting a UTI. This just started today when I put in my cup. I'm assuming that it's because my cup is maybe rubbing up against my urethra but I may be wrong. Is this what also gives you the sensation that you need to pee all the time (I'm also experencing that). Basically I'm a mixed bag and I really want this cup to work...I don't know if it's just my body's reaction to something "weird" in it for the first time or if there is something that I might be able to do to help with the achy feelings.
Any suggestions?
