My friend says there is often a clear liquid in her cup on top of the blood when she takes it out. I asked her if she thinks it's plasma. She's not sure. It's just a layer of clear liquid sitting atop the dense menstrual blood, like some sort of discharge parfait (my words, not hers). That's really all the details I have. I haven't seen it myself, so I'm really going to be useless as far as follow-up questions are concerned.
I'm just curious if anyone else has experienced this and, if so, what they think it is. She plans on bringing it up at her gyno on her next visit. She is concerned it could be some sort of infection, though she has no other signs of infection, such as smell, itching, or strange discharge during non-menstrual times of the month.
(Note: I couldn't find any tags that seemed appropriate, so I just marked this with miscellaneous.)
