A first timer diva cup post! Please read :)

So I got my first Diva Cup today because pads irritate my skin badly and my flow is way too light for a tampon (never used one before, either).
And, I'm 22, if it matters to ya!
But anyway, today is the first day of my period which is still very light and I did a quick test on the Diva. I was surprised that it went in with no issues.
But it said in the package to twist it one full turn, and there is no way that thing was turning. Do you really need to do that, and why? It didn't hurt or anything, it just wouldn't move. So I got a little startled that it would be stuck so i poked in the side of the base and pulled it out. I'm too nervous to leave it in! I'm afraid its gonna get pushed up far and stuck and I'm gonna panic. Or that it'll end up leaving me sore, or something!
Oh, and also in the package it said to push it in until the tip was to the edge of your vagina. But I'm confused, does it have to be right up on your cervix? Because it seems to me that if you put it to the edge of your vagina it's not necessary around your cervix, especially since your cervix moves at different stages.
