Questions on a dry run with mixed results...

I tried a dry run with my Diva Cup tonight and everything started out okay. I got it in and it felt very comfortable, no poking or anything, although I wasn't able to rotate it. Removal was a little harder and I ended up having to struggle with it a little. Finally, I got it out, but there was blood inside (my period isn't due until Saturday) and blood on the toilette paper when I wiped. I can't quite explain why, but I just freaked out. I got super light-headed and thought I might pass out, I was gagging, it was ridiculous. I've always been a little queezy around blood, but this seems really silly because I've obviously had a period before. So I guess my questions are:
1) Why do you think there was blood? It seems possible that I scratched myself while trying to 'dig' the cup out, but it still seems like a little much for a nail cut. Do you think it's possible that I did myself any real damage (maybe pulling to hard to get it out) or am I just being paranoid?

2)Anyone else out there with bad blood reactions? Could it be seeing the blood in a more 'natural' state that set me off? I want to make this work, but I can't be curled up on the bathroom floor for a half an hour every time I take the thing out. Any advice?
