First period and a smelly cup

I just got over my first period with the mooncup UK. It was a learning experience that's for sure! I had to wear a pad for the first two days because I was so heavy that I would leak. But using one pad a day as opposed to 15 is still pretty sweet. The last 3 days I didn't need to use a pad at all as I was really light.

The main problem I had with using pads was the smell. My last two or three days are usually really stinky. With the cup I didn't have to worry about it. I didn't stink at all which was really nice. But now I have a problem. My cup smells bad.

I tried to wash it with water but can't get the smell to go away. I'm going to search the memories and tags for suggestions on what to clean it with. I think I've read that Dr. Bronners is really good though I don't know where to buy some around here. I'm thinking of washing it with baking soda and water. I know that baking soda is a good deodorizor as well as a good cleanser. Any suggestions that I might not find in the memories?

EDIT: The hydrogen peroxide and water solution worked great. Thanks everyone!
