First time and cramping?

I just got a diva cup and have been using it for my current period. Yesterday was the first day, and it took a while to figure out how to get it in properly. Before I went to bed I emptied and replaced it and during insertion I was a little sore, but I figured it'd go away. All day yesterday it was fine and really comfortable while it was in, but as soon as I lay down to sleep (with it in) I started getting cramps. Overnight the cup worked fine, no leaking at all, but I had cramping just bellow my belly button that eventually convinced me to take it out. However I'm still getting some cramps with it out. Not regular I'm-on-my-period cramps, these are something-happened cramps. Maybe all of my botched attempts at putting it in hit something that now hurts? I'm assuming (hoping) that this is just a temporary problem, and that hopefully tomorrow I can try it out again? I really want this to work, because although it's not really bad pain, I think if it were permanent it would rule out the possibility of the Diva cup being a long-term solution. Has anybody else had this problem? If so, how did it work out?
