Post removal cramps

I’m using a Diva cup for the first time. The first day of my period I had it in for about 6 hours, then took it out. I put it in again before going to bed. After I took it out the next morning, I started to cramp. The rest of that day, I had the worst cramps I have ever had in my life. I spent much of the day lying on my back on the floor. Tylenol didn’t help, walking around, hot tea, nothing.

That was yesterday. I tried it again this morning, and it seems to be working okay; no cramps but a little tenderness near the labial opening. When I have the cup in I feel somewhat bloated, but I have not had a recurrence of the cramping.

Reading these posts it seems that most people experience **less** cramping with cups than with tampons. Has anyone had an experience similar to mine? I am 46 and have a 7 year old daughter. I’m using a size 2 Diva; maybe I should try the smaller size? I believe my cup is fully open, but I have not been able to do the rotation thing.
