Please read this post regarding tag use in this community. Tags are a useful tool to help us categorize and find posts more easily in this community.
The memories section has been a useful tool in the past, storing helpful posts in one place for easy searching.
With the addition of tags, I'm not sure that it's that useful anymore. My personal opinion is that we should concentrate on properly and extensively tagging all entries, and have a "master list" of these tags so all members can easily find posts. The memories section would still be used, but only to link to relevent entries that have been posted in other communities and/or personal journals. The problem I have with the memories section in a community such as this is, what determines that a post is "important" enough to be added to the memories? Most posts that are posted here are important; they all have some bit of information that is different and relevant to someone reading. Do we just start adding most of the posts to memories? Especially lately, when most of the time the "database is unavailable" ...
So ... what do you guys think? Please answer the poll, and use the comments if you would like to expand on them.

What should we do with the memories?
Get rid of them entirely; solely use tags.
Keep them for posts outside the community; use tags for posts in the community.
Keep them; use tags for the community but still add relevant posts to the memories.
We have almost one thousand members in this community, and only have two mods. That's a 500:1 ratio. So we're looking to add on another maintainer or two, to help keep things streamlined and running smoothly.
The problem? I have no idea how to go about choosing someone. I recongnize only a few names on the member list. Should we have nominations/voting (top five names nominated get voted on by the community)? Pick a name or two from those that volunteer? I have no clue. I don't want to add just anyone -- s/he would have to know what to do and how to do it, and be trustworthy enough not to run off with the community.
Basically the maintainer(s) will be assisting on making sure all posts have relevant tags (and adding worthy posts to the memories, if we end up keeping them), and also resolving any conflicts (deleting spam posts and comments, banning abusive members, etc).
· Must maintain at least one other active and relatively-busy community.
· Must be online often enough to quickly respond to any community issues (within 8-10 hours).
· Must be willing to be contacted via email regarding the community (we have a "group" email account set up).
· Must work well with others.
· Must be willing to follow the rules previously set forth.
· Must have a paid account (mainly to assist free users with adding polls). ?? -- not for sure on this one.

To contact the moderators of this community, please send an email to LJ_menstrual_cups@kellybelly.net. This is the most reliable way to contact us, especially now when LiveJournal is having issues with comment notification emails. This email is different than the one that was previously used, which is why I'm bringing it up here.
