Thanks for doing that, hon, I've been meaning to for ages.

Can anyone think of other tags which may be useful?
kelly bellykellybellynet on December 6th, 2005 07:19 pm (UTC)
Yeah ... I'm thinking that the memories will be somewhat useless, so I'm going through them and making sure they're all tagged, and making it so that only the untagged posts and those added from other communities will be listed to the public.

Did you get my recent comment (on one of your posts from Oct.)?

I changed the email addy on the community, and I can have it forward to you also, so that we both get any emails that are sent. I need your email addy, so that I can have the email forward to you also. Unless you would rather not ...

can there be a tag for 'promotion' or 'spreading the word' ?
kelly bellykellybellynet on December 8th, 2005 12:29 am (UTC)
I've changed menstrual_activism to plain ol' activism. Anything relating to this type of stuff should go under that tag.
Gluppit the prawling strangles, thereelettaria on December 9th, 2005 12:04 pm (UTC)
In case you haven't, we should put this post in the Memories and link to it from the user info page, so that people can add tag requests. Here's one tag request: sport (from a post that's just been put up).
kelly bellykellybellynet on December 9th, 2005 05:38 pm (UTC)
What about using a general physical_activity? That would include everything like sports, running, swimming, horseback riding, yoga, etc..
Delicious_Revelationrevelation2005 on February 20th, 2006 03:39 am (UTC)
How about a survey tag?
I'd be interested to find out who uses which type of cup and why.

Re: How about a survey tag?
I thought that was what the poll tag was for?
spuddleofglass on February 27th, 2006 02:51 pm (UTC)
I believe that we've had people post some graphics, like banners or icons. If there could be a "graphics" tag for those, I think that would be nice. I'm trying to go through now and find the posts...
spuddleofglass on February 27th, 2006 02:58 pm (UTC)
Hmm... I did end up finding the post, and it had the tag of "diagrams and pictures", so it's pretty clear that I didn't get enough sleep last night. *headdesk*

Hello modly mod,

What would you say to a 'success stories' tag? we've been getting a lot of them lately and sometimes they don't fit under anything else. Plus, it would make heartening reading for newbies.

Gluppit the prawling strangles, thereelettaria on September 15th, 2006 01:42 pm (UTC)
success-story added as a tag, could you put it on the master list? Also, could you change the link from the user info page so that it comes directly to the post, rather than to the "reply-to" option?
kelly bellykellybellynet on September 15th, 2006 03:24 pm (UTC)
I added success-story to the list, and I also added a few other tags that I noticed were added since I last updated this post. I re-worded a few tags as well... if you feel that they're more... I dunno, confusing? ... now, let me know so I can change them back.

We've had several people who don't really have size issues, but have vaginismus which is a psychological issue. Could a tag be made for this problem? I'm not really sure what it should be called.

cleaning with lingettes
Hi ! I had few problems washing the holes and letters, and mesuring lines inside the cups (with all my cups, except Lunette). Lately, I bought lingettes of intimate toilet (for skins sensitive, without soap, neutral Ph), of the brand Rogés Cavaillès. You know, we do not need to rinse after their use. They are useful when you're on your periods, before having sex, or I guess maybe when camping… I though : why not try to do a better cleaning of the residues (that stays despite the sterilisation in the boiling water or that with some water + vinegar) upon my Divacup and my Mooncup UK ? So, I covered my index with a lingette, and I used my nail so covered to scratch with accuracy the tracks of blood. The lingette is rather wet not to be afraid of damaging the cup, and it allows exactly to clean. For the holes, first, I returned the thick part of the cup towards the outside (then, towards the inside) to push aside holes in order to remove the remaining blood. I also tangled up very finely a corner of the lingette to cross it boorishly in every hole. That works well, it’s even very effective. Then, I rinced carefully the cups, (I don’t remember any more if I washed them with some soap fefore rincing). I’d like to ask you something. Well, I never had to empty a cup outside, but I think I will have to for my next period and that makes me nervous. I'll take some antibacterian gel without rincage for hands. I said to myself that I would use it in case there is no soap in toilet, and for which I would wait that the gel is very dry before manipulating my cup. I think I can simply wipe it or rince it with water from a bottle, but it does not allow to wash the holes where some blood or..well other thicker things are blocked. Now holes are important for the suction of the cup, especially on heavy days.. So, I think I could empty the cup, then maybe wipe it (better with damped tissue ?), then use a lingette. But do you think I should still rince after with water from my bottle, or even rince before and after using lingette) ? These lingettes are suited to respect the vaginal balance. But I guess they’re rather reserved for a use external, that is for the vulva.. In this case, rince the cup with water would be more careful ? In advance, thanks for your advises !

Hello there modly types,

I wonder if we could get a tag along the lines of 'keeper company'/'keeper controversy' or something like that? I've just been tagging things with the appropriate cup names but really it's more discussion of the company itself than the product.

I'm also happy to donate a bit of paid time if you want to change the community main page.

Non-menstrual Use of Cups
I have looked through all the FAQs of most of the various cups and have found no mention of this topic, although I should think it would be a popular topic of discussion these days.

I have been using "Instead" for some time during menstruation and love them, but I don't think it would do much good for non-menstrual secretion use. I have been told that many women are using cups like "The Keeper" as protection from everyday vaginal discharge when they "go commando" (wear no panties) under skirts, something I know many are doing, especially at dance clubs and parties. I am wondering if anyone here has tried and can recommend a cup for this purpose, and if anyone knows it to be safe to do so.

new tag
I would like to see a new tag that has to do with the fact that in many women, the cup sits crooked. At first I was very concered about this and thought I was a freak or just getting it wrong. after much searching, I saw that many other women have this same issue. It was hard to find info concerning this specifically because there is no tag that says something like "cup sits crooked".

Re: new tag
That would be covered under insertion - painful & problems (or even under insertion - general).
Mynxgarden_hoe21 on October 22nd, 2007 12:52 am (UTC)
I'm being told the "sea sponge" tag doesn't exist when I click on it.
kelly bellykellybellynet on October 22nd, 2007 02:07 am (UTC)
Probably because I don't see any posts tagged with it...
Delicious_Revelationrevelation2005 on January 17th, 2008 12:24 am (UTC)
How about a poetry and/or stories tag? I thought about that just last night.
ever so slightly obsessedscien on January 17th, 2008 08:47 am (UTC)
Stories of cup use go under whatever category they fit (insertion, removal, success story, cleaning, activism...).

Poetry I'm not sure about as it's not actually on topic here. I don't mind leaving it up if people seem to be enjoying it, but this is a place discuss the use of menstrual cups, not to showcase your work.

there's a post that was made a few days ago http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/1096588.html

i looked for a Identification Tag, but found none..

It might be a good idea to put this post somewhere that everyone can find it

Looks like we need a MiaCup tag. :) I know it's listed on the side for brands, but it's not showing up in the tag list for me.
ever so slightly obsessedscien on June 25th, 2008 07:36 am (UTC)
I'm unable to edit this post as it's not mine originally, so this list is out of date. If you want a dynamically generated tag list, it can be found at http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/tag, and I'm rarely more than a few days behind with the sidebar.

What about Pelvic Inflammatory disease/PID?

this has been an issue of concern for more than one woman who I have told of my cup usage.
ever so slightly obsessedscien on July 7th, 2008 07:40 am (UTC)
There's a tag called 'health risks' for discussing that sort of thing. I actually don't remember PID being discussed much, I don't think it's a particularly common concern.

Hi :) I wanted to suggest a tag for talking about how to discuss cups with family members/friends...something a bit more specific than 'First Time Use' and a bit different to 'Activism'. There have been a lot of posts in my few months here (and it's an issue that came up for me personally) to do with how mothers react/might react to hearing about cups. I know as a new user it would have been useful to me to see a group of posts about this topic, as I didn't anticipate the generation gap between how I talk about my period with friends and how I talk about it with my mother. This could also help girls who need to broach the subject with their parent/guardian to help with purchasing cups.

Thanks for reading :)
ever so slightly obsessedscien on July 25th, 2008 07:13 pm (UTC)

Yeah, I've been thinking that for a while but couldn't quite come up with a good name. But your comment and the latest spurt of posts we've had on this have convinced me that we need one, so we now have a tag called 'family and friends'. Woo!
Katrinakatrina_splat on August 1st, 2008 01:19 am (UTC)
Hi, I was just adding tags to a few entries and have noticed there is a Lady Cup tag and a Ladycup tag ><. In tagging posts, is there a preferred one to use or should I stick both on...or should I (because I procrastinate all the time) start working back through old entries re-tagging them as one/the other.

I know this is a bit finicky but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end to have all the posts together.

tag suggestion
I wouldn't mind seeing a "sea sponge" tag. Since there are tags for pads and tampons, I would think this alternative would be okay.

I'm afraid I have no such link, nor does this get posted about all that much. You're going to have to do your own research.

I think a good tag would be "continuous use" or something like that - that implies being worn for the whole month or for longer than just your period. I know there have been some questions about that recently and I tried to find them before posting my own but couldn't. Thanks. :-)

A brand new cup..?
Hello ladies :))

A friend of mine indicated to me the link of a French site :

There are 2 short and well-written articles. One is about the "pisse-debout" ("pisse" comes from "pisser" = to pee and "debout" is "standing"). It looks like the Freelax, a pretty cool thing.

Then they speak about the "cueille-lune" ("lune" is moon and "cueille" is from the verb "cueillir" = to pick ; "cueille" can be used both for "pick!" or "(I/he,she) picks"..).
On the picture, the cup looks like one of the Mooncups, but I don't recognize the shape of the ridges on the outside of the cup..? Plus, the handle looks thinner, such as on the Lunette or Diva etc..
Would that only be an effect of the picture ?
Do you think that'd be a new, French cup ?

I wrote them a mail yesterday.. We'll see what they'll learn me.. ;)

How about a new tag Real_Life_Stories to funny or less funny experiences around the use of the cup. That would fit the thread: http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/1476247.html (of course, unless there is already a better tag I have not seen yet...)

Or 'overnight leaking', or some such. I can think of at least five posts to tag with this off the top of my head, and 'leaking' is such a frequently used category that they really can't find each other very easily. There was another one today.
