Cups, hand washing and dry skin
On my Heavy Day, I need to empty my cup a lot: about every two hours. This in itself is not a problem, but I find that washing my hands that often tends to make them very dry. And I do not want to use a lotion or cream, because some of it will end up inside my vagina two hours later.
I've found that a bit of coconut oil helps. It's not the best moisturizer, but it does make my skin feel better and it's vagina-friendly and has caused no harm to my silicone cup so far. In fact, coconut oil is an excellent and cheap lubricant for (latex-free) sex.

Just thought I'd share.

I tried using a coconut oil as a balm for my lips and under my nose (when I had a cold) and it somehow made my skin drier.

I like shea butter and cocoa butter for intensive moisturising (I've mixed them together now, with a bit of almond oil so it melts faster), but for anyone who's concerned about lotions but wants something they can pick up as easily, any massage base oil would do. Or cooking oil, of course.

I use coconut oil for lube now too (when not using condoms). It's awesome!

I also love coconut oil, but I find I get a bit of a rash if I use it too much (when used as a face lotion). Maybe it's a little too strong for me and I should cut it with something. I never thought of using it as lube though. Great idea!

I find that some soaps are just a lot nicer to the skin and keep it soft. Sometimes Dove helps me. Feminine wash seems to be nice too. Cup brand washes are pretty good about not drying the skin, especially Diva (for me at least).

I am so lazy, lol. I tend to want to just skip a step, so I don't have to apply things to my hands, so I like to use soaps that don't dry them out.

Actually, my aunt Barbara gave me these great soaps she makes from home, using olive oil, and lots of natural ingredients. She makes vanilla, chocolate, sandalwood, etc. She gave me like 3 bars of it, different ones. The chocolate scented one is my fav, it has extra olive oil. Little more slippery than the others, but my hands are soooooooo smooth after.

So I think sometimes a really good quality natural soap helps a lot too.

Coconut oil is magic stuff indeed. Love it for light moisturising, Need shea butter for really dry skin. Coconut oil is fantastic for thrush -need virgin preferable organic oil. Virgin organic oil is also being found to help some chronic diseases too. Interestingly Wikipedia says it can damage latex condoms but it doesnt give a citation for this.

A citation may have been overlooked because, well, it's common knowledge. The instructions in the condom packet and all safer-sex advice ever is very clear about not using oil, fat, vasaline etc. with condoms. Carbon-based oils degrade latex, just like silicone-based oils degrade silicone rubber.

I love coconut oil :) I use it everywhere - kitchen, bathroom, bedroom

Also I wash my hands ridiculously a lot, not just when dealing with the cup but I haven't had a dryness problem that you mentioned.
