I usually had no problem masturbating while on my period when I used pads. Now I've completely switched to the cup. I've read the cup can move up the vaginal canal when you are aroused. Sometimes I've had trouble getting my cup out as is (I'm using Diva, supposedly the largest; it really sits up there!). The vagina does decrease in size post-sex but would the cup still be riding high? Would I have a harder time getting it out? I don't want to give up my self-desires because that can help shorten your period. Any tips?
doing this the day before your period starts should be effective too.
i'd be more worried about leaks tbh. the seal might break from this. it seems like a good idea to empty shortly before masturbation just like it's recommended before sports. then don't try to remove it at once unless there are leaks. i don't see why your cup shouldn't move down again when you're done. at least when i use geisha balls for pleasure while on my period, everything's back to usual when i remove them. in fact my cervix is so low that i'm surprised i'm able to use them along with the cup in the first place!!!
I have a super-high cervix too (I can barely reach the Diva even when not aroused) and I've never had an issue removing it after oral or what have you. Arousal does always make the seal break for me, though.
By definition, if your vagina gets back to its usual length after sex (or masturbation), the cup will get back to its usual position eventually. At worst you might break the seal and leak, if you do it should be even easier to retrieve the cup afterwwards. Just don't try to remove it right after though, as ittakes some time for the genitalia to regain their previous shape.
I have a high cervix and have trouble removing my cup sometimes bizarrely most frequently when I've slept with it in, however I've had happy times with a cup in several times and haven't had trouble with either migration or leakage! Maybe it varies from person to person and you'll just have to give it a try (with an empty cup of course)!
I think mine sometimes retreats a bit higher, but if you sit on the loo and bear down when trying to remove, you can usually grab it with thumb and forefinger.
Two things - Firstly, I agree with the thing about leaks. If I get aroused/wet, sometimes it breaks the seal and the cup leaks. Secondly - if you get wet with your cup in, it can be a bitch to remove. It gets so slippery you can't grab it. If I've been messing about with my boyfriend or with myself with mine in, I struggle to remove it afterwards.
I was really impressed, I use a diva cup2, and I had rather umm aggressive sex with a rather large partner and he did not notice it all. I was worried it was going to be hard to get out, but I just chilled on the couch for a bit and strolled to the bathroom and it had ambled back down and was as easy as usual. It was another omg I love this thing!!!!
Thanks for the tips. My period started last night (just lightly spotting) so I put in the cup and went to sleep. This morning I figured the flow was still light and I had some cramps so I decided to take care of them. Success! Yes the cup did move up but no leaks or anything. I went back to sleep after for an hour or so and when I got up I took out my cup as easily as I've always done. I saw it was about half full when I emptied it and was impressed. I don't usually get cramps during or before my period but when I do I usually take care of them right away.
